My Election Day Arsenal

I wasn’t planning on following the election too closely this year, but I can’t help myself considering the enticing tools available online. So here’s my online election arsenal for the day: I’m using Pollster.com to follow polling data (a couple of other projection sites are covered in Mashable’s 12 Presidential Poll and Electoral Projection Resources) and for twitter eye candy there’s the Election Results According to Twitter. Textless Tuesday: Meet Monkey

Meet Monkey BBC’s come up with the perfect way to follow the Olympics: an Adobe Air-based desktop application that lets you follow your favorite Olympic sports, set reminders, view the medal table, etc… You’ll certainly love the art if you like the Gorillaz (same artist). Plus, everyone loves monkeys so this is the perfect excuse to have one of the furry bastards around until you feel the need to move on to other forms of entertainment. The fact that you don’t actually have to do much is the more obvious …

Can free networks save the world?

We stand at a time in history unlike any other. Technological advances have made the spread of information nearly instantaneous. Pictures, words, audio and video fly around the globe on a network made of wires and radio waves. A little known Republican presidential candidate with views radically different from the established elite took up to twenty percent of primary votes in some states. He broke fundraising records and built an unparalleled grass roots network using only the internet. The ongoing war in Iraq provides another example of the ways our …
